01What are lab-grown diamonds (LGD)?
LGD stands for lab-grown diamond. Lab-grown diamonds, also called lab-created diamonds, are grown in controlled laboratory environments. Carbon atoms form the same crystal structure found in mined stones, giving lab-grown diamonds the same chemical, physical, and optical properties.
02How do lab-grown diamonds compare with mined stones?
The difference is origin. Lab-grown diamonds are created above ground, while mined stones form underground. Lab-grown diamonds are not imitations: they have the same carbon crystal structure, hardness, and optical properties. Cut, colour, clarity, and carat describe the characteristics of each individual stone.
